For regulatory reasons, we need to be sure you’re located within the State of New Jersey, which is why we use geolocation technology to determine your location. If you’re in New Jersey and are experiencing difficulties with being geolocated, here are some troubleshooting tips.
Enabling Geolocation
To fully utilize our products and services, you must have Xpoint software installed on your Windows or Mac computer. If you haven’t already done so, you will be prompted to download and install Xpoint before creating or using your MonmouthBet account. Please make sure you have pop-ups enabled. Our mobile application will not require you to have the Xpoint plugin, but you will be required to have Location Services, GPS, and Wi-Fi all enabled on. With iOS devices, please ensure the ‘Precise Location’ toggle is switched to ON.
Correct IP address
Sometimes, Internet Service Providers will assign an IP address that’s outside of your state. Check with your provider and if this is the case, have them change it to the correct state. If you’re connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot, the IP address may also be from outside New Jersey, depending on the ISP the hotspot uses.
Blocking Software
If you have a VPN (Virtual Private Network), VNC (Virtual Network Client), or Remote Desktop software running on your computer or device, it will not be possible to locate you accurately and you will not be able to access our products and services. Make sure any software installed such as TigerVNC, TeamViewer, OpenVPN, or HMA are turned off.
You can check if any of these programs are running by accessing your computer’s Task Manager. This can be done by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete on Windows and Cmd+Alt+Esc on a Mac. From there you can force the program to quit.
If you’re still having problems, you may need to remove these programs from your computer. On Windows, go to Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall and select the program from the list. On a Mac, find the program in Applications and then drag it to the trash.
Still not detected?
There can also be external reasons why you can’t be accurately geolocated. For example, if you’re near the ocean or somewhere remote, the Wi-Fi signals might not be strong enough. Also, if you’re close to the border of another state, this can confuse the software and make it appear that you’re not in New Jersey. If you’re still having troubleshooting, please contact Customer Support so we can provide further assistance.
